Envisioning environments    (2013-present)

Unruly earths

Making
Writing

(2017-present)

These miniature landscape sculptures are process-based, iterative, improvisatory works. I layer sediments and fluids into a jar, and see what they make of themselves. I study, document, and respond to what emerges. At once abstract and immediate, the resulting moving and still images invoke natural phenomena at ambiguous and multiple scales - atmospheric flows,  geological formations, the movement of fluids through soil and bodies. Each jar becomes its own unruly earth, accreting and transforming over time.

Given the process-oriented nature of this work, its mediums of output are diverse: including video/film, photography, and enacting the making process in-situ over a period of time.
